Celebrate the Small Victories

It's been a tough road lately not seeing results in any big way. Some skills and lifts have declined, so its been hard to focus on anything but the negative. Got a nice reminder that sometimes, even the little things need to be celebrated. I am so thankful we are surrounded by such great people that encourage you as they see you grow and improve. Since my back is still wonky I was pleased to participate in a cardio WOD and then skipped over to the gymnastics class right after. Been working those lat pulls lately, so I was excited to feel the strength in my lats during the pulls in class. Even was banging out unbroken sets while Sam commended me on the improvement.

I take another moment to remember where I have been and what I COULDN'T do just a short 2 years ago. Hanging from a bar? No way! I literally injured my shoulder at a playground when I jumped up on the monkey bars. All of my weight pulled down on my shoulder...lack of strength = damage. I was so embarrassed on that day that I couldn't even hold my weight on a bar. I don't EVER want to go back there. Today is a small victory and I will take it!

Unintended rest day courtesy of a back strain. Feels better as the day progresses, but morning is a bear. Going to schedule a PT assessment to get it looked at. Typically a day I look forward too. Not today. Still nursing a back strain from 4-5 weeks ago. Didn't listen to my body today, so we will see how this plays out. Basically skipped my turkey dinner tonight and hit up the greek yogurt and protein at 9:15.

Temper Tantrum

I walked into today's WOD super negative. We have done it a number of times lately and I suck at it. Not just kinda suck, but REALLY suck. I do it because I don't cherry pick my WOD's, but this thing really breaks me mentally...every...damned....time. I'm always near tears coming to the end of the first mile, then looking at the amount of work left to do as everyone else starts coming out of the gym, already done with their row and I'm just finishing my first run. I turned into a big baby today, bitching, moaning, blaming, glaring.....

In the end, I have no one to blame for my present condition other than me and the decisions I make on the daily. I'm still pissed and seething as I write. Pissed because I hate running, pissed because we do this same WOD every other week, pissed because when I come in from running I'm not even winded!! But the question is, will that anger fuel my desire to change or will I allow it to beat me down like so many times before? Is it going to define my self-esteem? I guess the next few weeks will give us the answer to that question.

Plus side...diet was good today.

Breakfast @ 6:45

2 boiled eggs
1 slice of ezekiel bread
1/2 T coconut oil on top

Snack @ 10:30

Lunch @ 1:00 with staff at Rula Bula Irish Pub...Yeah...they picked an Irish PUB for lunch. I had a chicken salad with strawberries, blue cheese crumbles, and pecans. I didn't feel cheated and was satisfied after this meal. More importantly, I didn't feel gross like I would have if I had the pub fare they were eating. Drank water...no beer.

Protein Shake @ 4:15 (forgot to photograph) on the way to the WOD.

Post WOD aminos, fortunately because I got caught in traffic on the way home! I would have been starving!

Back to work....

A little tired today (courtesy of the beer and late bedtime), but off to work I go...both at TCBY and in the diet arena. Feeling good about my progress and fought a couple of demons today. Cheat meals can be dangerous to my progress, because I don't want to stop. I did manage to get back to my routine, packed my food and survived my day.

WarFit Party

Party day! Was a busy day between dance class for Peyton, Christmas shopping, and wrapping presents for tonight. Missed a couple of morning meals and enjoyed myself for the evening. Rinse and repeat, but with a side of WODING!!

Woke up with a totally different outlook today! SO energized right now! LOVE when my day starts on so many positive notes:
  1. Money IN DA BANK! Woo hoo! Ed got his first paycheck. Feeeeeeel the relief! We were 2 weeks away from being homeless my friends. No lie....2 weeks.
  2. I looked down this morning and saw my feet. Some days I pause to reflect on the tiny marvel that is SEEING my feet. I remember a time I couldn't and had to crane my head around the beast known as "my gut."
  3. My jeans are in that awkward "loose" stage. Too loose to fit right, but the smaller size is too tight to fit right. I don't care...it's results!
  4. I GET TO WOD TODAY!!! No idea what it is yet, but no doubt, it is FANTASTICALLY miserable!
  5. Thankful my family loves me, cuz I was a BEAR last night.
  6. Started to get texts from my WarFit Bitches, Jen and Venus, at 10:30 coordinating our WOD time today. Oh yeah....Female Friday...BACK IN ACTION! Pretty sure we drove Beau nuts. :)
  7. Took a moment to read Ken's blog today. One of the reasons I got back into this accountability thing was his story. Seeing the amount of progress he has made was so motivating. I am so happy he is getting back on track at the same time. It also reminds me, you never know who is reading your story, watching your actions, and who you are motivating to make progress.
  8. Yes...I love the Oxford comma and will NEVER give it up.
Nothing different food wise today. I am super happy this is my last bag of that chicken. Been hard choking that down over the last 4 days.

Breakfast on the run @ 6:45

2 whole boiled eggs
1/2 cinnamon raisin ezekiel muffin
1/2 T coconut oil on top

Snack @ 10:30

1 c plain greek yogurt
1/4 c fresh pineapple

Hungry at 12:00

Lunch @ 1:15

1 C spinach
5 oz chicken
6 grape tomatoes
1 T balsamic

Snack @ 3:00

35 g Protein shake

Got 4 rounds and 16 reps working with my bitches. We went for a WarFit 800 after the WOD. The gals were nice to run with me. Took me 7:36 today.

Post-WOD
Muscle-Pharm Aminos

Got home @ 6:45 and Dinner @ 7:00

2 C spinach
5 oz ground turkey with taco seasoning
Out of black beans today, even though I was JUST at Sprouts! *face palm*

Snack will be at 10:00

1/2 C plain greek yogurt
12.5 g protein powder

Lack of variety is starting to get to me at dinner, not so much the rest of the day, but definitely dinner. Must maintain focus.
